ROOMS

Details and references such as the keyhole painting on the door that allows you a peek inside, mood-lighting, the red drapes and life-sized poster from the cabaret in the Moulin Rouge rooms, the station clock in the Musée d’Orsay rooms and the ballet barre in the Opera Garnier rooms, set the hotel apart and make it hard to keep it a secret.

The rooms were small, as is often the case with Paris hotels, but beautiful and comfortable. The rainfall massage shower was a dream and the amenities, which included free Wi-Fi, 40-inch flat-screen TVs with premium cable channels, a DVD player and Bluetooth speaker, were wonderful and in keeping with what is expected in a hotel of this caliber. One negative aspect of the rooms is the lack of any coffee or tea making apparatus, though they are available free of charge in the lobby.

Several of the rooms have a jacuzzi bath and all guests have free access to the hotel’s steam room and sauna located in the hotel’s basement.

Due to my obsession with the Eiffel Tower and the innumerable photos of the Iron Lady I’ve taken from the countless times that I’ve seen it over the years, on this most recent visit I vowed not to go to Eiffel Tower. However, when presented with the opportunity to “sleep’ there, I couldn’t resist.

Since I was alone I decided against the overtly sexy Moulin Rouge themed-room. However, if you’re traveling with “Bae” it’s definitely the room to book along with the Paris Romance Package for champagne, rose petals and a love box. Oh, la la.

AMENITIES

Secret de Paris is equipped with free WiFi throughout the hotel, a 24-hour gym, and a sauna and steam room, as previously mentioned.

The hotel offers a generous breakfast buffet at an additional cost with a variety of breads and pastries, cheeses and meats, fruit, cereal, and eggs cooked to preference. There’s also the daily happy hour where guests can enjoy snacks and drinks at the hotel’s honor bar.

It is important to note that despite serving breakfast, the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant. However, room service is provided by a nearby restaurant, except on Sunday.

LOCATION

Located in the Trinité quartier (9th arrondissement), Secret de Paris is within walking distance of Moulin Rouge, Opera House, Louvre, Notre Dame and Eiffel Tower, is in close proximity to two metro lines a number of cafes, bars, and restaurants, and serves as the perfect base for exploring Paris.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Hotel Design Secret de Paris is quite a unique hotel. The sensuous boutique hotel definitely has a romantic vibe, but I did not feel weird or uncomfortable there on my own. Suites can be made available for families, babysitting services are available and the rooms are sound-proof, so there’s no worry that crying children or…ahem, amorous couples will disturb each other. I felt safe walking to and from the hotel after dark, and it’s an easy transfer to the Paris train stations and airport.
