I’ve been tagged by Sandra of Albany Kid to take part in the HostelBookers 7 Super Shots, a project that allows travel bloggers share their favorite travel shots, then nominate 5 other travel bloggers to participate. This is quite the challenge for me, because as I’ve shared previously, I am not a very good photographer, but I am a good sport, so here are my 7 “super” shots:
1. A photo that…takes my breath away
There are many contradicting theories about how the pyramids were constructed: whether by slave labor or skilled worker and whether the stones were dragged, lifted or rolled into place. No matter what the method, the reality is they are absolutely amazing. Seeing these exquisitely engineered works of art, and thinking about the precision with which the pyramids were made that have allowed these man-made structures to remain standing for thousands of years absolutely takes my breath away.
2. A photo that…makes me laugh or smile
My little ladies, when they were really little, taking in the beauty of the Umbrian countryside. I love this photo. It makes me smile and brings tears to my eyes at the same time.
3. A photo that…makes me dream
There is just something about a palm tree. As a native Californian, I am drawn to them because they remind me of home. How can you put a palm tree next to turquoise blue water and not dream?
4. A photo that…makes me think
Watching my girls and their cousin playing around the Martin Luther King Memorial in Washington, DC. makes me think that I am living his dream and am so blessed to see that my children are not judged, nor do they judge, by the skin color, but by character.
5. A photo that…makes my mouth water
All of the food at La Boqueria looked delicious, but the brightly colored produce reminded me of the vibrant art the Barcelona is famous for.
6. A photo that…tells a story
Biologists at Four Seasons Resort Maldives Landaa Giraavaru’s Marine Discovery Center are working to preserve the local marine ecosystem with the reef propagation effort and my family and I had the opportunity to build a coral frame and plant it.
7. A photo that…I am most proud of (aka my worthy of National Geographic shot)
As I’ve said, I am NOT a photographer, and I’m honest enough to realize it’s nowhere near National Geography worthy. However, one picture I think is kinda cool is one I took of Mirlago in Switzerland, with the snow-capped mountains reflecting on the water while riding the Bernina Express.
Now that I’ve shown off my pictures, I’d like to nominate the following 5 bloggers to do the same:
Nailah – There’s So Much To See
Greg – I’m Black and I Travel
Suzy – Suzy Guese
Meagan – Mommy Travels
Elena – Ciao Mom
