MIND MY BUSINESS“.

This is my resolution regarding my blog for 2012 and each month I will set a different goal to help me on this journey to better mind my business. January’s goal was plan. To help with this, I made an editorial calendar for the blog and I bought an agenda. You know, one of those things from the olden days with this material called paper that you can write on with an apparatus known as a pen? Yeah, one of those.  As much as I love my iPhone and apps, I like having a  paper agenda that I can write on, circle or highlight what’s important, and scratch things off as I complete them.

I also made a vision board. Well, not so much a board as a sheet, that I cut and pasted images and words onto, and which fits nicely into my agenda as a constant reminder of the goals I’m working towards and to mind my business.  I also finally sat down and made a training plan to prepare for upcoming races.

The goal for February is to work on my photography. I’m sure you’ve noticed that most of the pictures  on the blog aren’t great. I blame a lot of that on the fact that I use an iPhone 3GS for many pictures.  The quality of the camera in the subsequent iPhone 4 is much better; a 5MP camera versus the 3GS’s 3.2MP.  And truthfully, though I’m sure a 5MP camera would help some, I’m honest enough to admit that I just don’t take very good pictures and should probably get to a photography class.

As the saying goes, “When the student is ready… “

As much as I need to take a photography course, I just don’t have the time for a months long, intensive course right now. However, I have signed up for week-long online iPhone photography course, which starts next week, and I am participating in a February Photo-A-Day challenge, and will be posting the pictures on Instagram. I’ll also post those pictures on my FaceBook page daily, so if you haven’t already liked my page,  please do (LIKE PAGE HERE) and help keep me on track. I also want to learn how to use the camera I got for Christmas. The Nikon Coolpix is just a little point-and-shoot, and since I’m not interested in lugging crazy big camera equipment when I travel, is all I wanted or need. I plan to take some time this month to go over the manual and learn how to use all the settings and features.  None of these things will help me produce National Geographic quality pictures, but it will help me to master the equipment that I have. Another way to mind my business
What goals have you set for yourself for 2012?  How are you minding your business to make sure you reach those goals?
