London is a wonderfully large metropolis, but thanks to an extensive public transportation network, getting around the city is a breeze.
“Mind the gap” and use the underground, or the tube as it is more commonly known, to make your way around the city. With nearly a dozen lines or routes to choose from, the tube is an easy way to get to most of London’s must-see sights.
I didn’t know there was an overground train until just a few days ago. While not nearly as extensive as the underground, it does go a few the places the underground doesn’t.
The DLR (Docklands Light Rail) serves the Docklands area of London. I become very familiar with this mode of transportation during my trip to London for the WTM since the event was held at the ExCel center, and the DLR conveniently stops right there.
You won’t get to your destination as quickly if you ride the iconic double decker bus, but you’ll get to take in more of the city than if you use the previously mentioned modes of transportation
And if you’re traveling with kids, this is a fun way to see a bit of London.
Not interested in the crushing crowds on the tube or conspicuous charms of a big red bus? Then try one of London’s famous black cabs.
It won’t be cheap or fast, but will be pretty cool.
