I am so excited to be going on my first cruise! And I’m not going on just any cruise, but I get to go on the new Disney Fantasy cruise ship.

The Disney Fantasy doesn’t officially set sail until March 31, however, as a member of the Traveling Mom Blogger Network, I and my TMOM colleagues are media guests of the Disney Fantasy Magical Preview Cruise.

The ship goes to Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, and though I am very excited about going to the Caribbean, after taking the virtual tour of the Fantasy, I quickly realized this is much more about the journey than the destination.

The 1115-foot long, 14-story high ship has decks dedicated to relaxing, sporting or dancing. A number of pools, some especially for kids and one reserved for adults. There are spas, theaters and nightclubs.

Based on the number of restaurants and cafes on the Fantasy, with fare ranging from Italian to French to California chic, it’s not hard to believe claims that the average weight gain on a 5-day cruise is 7-10 pounds. Thank goodness it’s only a 3-day cruise, and for Goofy’s  Sports Deck, Fantasy’s open-air activity area where I can work off some of those calories.

Have you ever been on a cruise? Any words of advice for me?

Disclosure: I received complimentary cruise accommodations from Disney Cruise Line via TravelingMom.com.
