Known as the “City with a Heart” Zagreb has a medieval old town, cobblestone streets, and a look and feel that is very different than other cities in Croatia, thanks in large part to the 18th and 19th century Austro-Hungarian architecture that permeates the landscape.

Pedestrian-friendly and brimming with museums, parks, restaurants, and shops, Zagreb is an excellent choice for a city break.

Runners dressed in costumes drink an obscene amount of wine and feast on a menu of oysters, foie gras, cheese, bread, and sweets all while running a marathon through the famed wine region’s most beautiful vineyards and châteaux.
