When the Disney Fantasy docked at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, I ran off the ship. Well, I didn’t actually run off the ship, but I did get off the ship and run.

The Castaway Cay 5k was organized by runDisney and took us around the island along the bike path and tiny airstrip. We were admonished to stay to the right of the path, so as not to get run over by bikes or trams.

Though only about 30 people participated in the race, it was as well organized as any race I’ve ever run, complete with bibs for the participants, mile markers and several hydration stations along the course.
There was even some bling action and character love going on, with Daisy Duck handing out medals to all the finishers.
The fun factor was increased because I had the pleasure of running with my fellow Traveling Moms, Lorraine of Run Wifey Run and Andi of Wife and Mom University, both of whom I ran with at Disney’s Princess Half Marathon last year.
Not only was the Castaway Cay 5k a ridiculously fun run with friends around a beautiful island, it is also another destination conquered in my quest to run the world.
This is getting way too easy.

Disclosure: I received complimentary cruise accommodations from Disney Cruise Line via TravelingMom.com. There was no additional cost for the 5K. I was not asked to express any particular point of view.
