I got a running start at BlogHer ’11 with the Together Counts 5k.  Sporting my fabulous pink shoelaces provided by Fit Approach, I made my way around the course, which looped out and back around the marina behind the host hotel, the Marriott Marquis & Marina.  The toughest thing about this run was dragging myself out of bed for the 6:30 am start.  This was probably especially true for those who hit the BlogHer parites the night before.  There was no official clock, no mile markers, no water stations.  There were, however, a bunch of ladies more interested in making personal connections than setting personal records.

I was happy to run into some of my favorite fitness bloggers like the Savvy Sassy Moms and Renee J. Ross who I ran with at the Disney’s Princess Half Marathon earlier this year.
Renee, my Disney Princess 1/2 marathon buddy.
But it was running into Dimity and Sarah, authors of the book Run Like A Mother and the blog Another Mother Runner, that really got me going.  I’ve read their book, blogs and articles so I knew that they were tall, but I was still a little surprised when I met them IRL at how tall they really were.  But hey, when you’re leading an army of “mother runners” it’s good to be visible.
Running like a mother with Dimity (3rd from lt), Sarah (next to me in pink tank) and Team Sparkle.
After finishing the run, conquering yet another destination in my quest to run the world, I picked up my race swag, my running loot, my 5k booty – you know, stuff.
Together Counts t-shirts and water bottles for everyone!  Yay!
