planned for 2013 to be the year of 13.1. Of half marathons.  Not necessarily to run “13 in ‘13”, as is the
trend among many runners, but to focus on improving my half marathon finishing
time, while continuing my quest to run
the world, one epic race at a time.

I planned
for the Marathon Des Alpes to be my last marathon. I’d done my one (Amsterdam),
and another one (Nice), and could proudly check “marathon” off my bucket list
twice, so I was truly done. If only the get away were that clean.  
the saying goes, we make plans and God laughs, because no sooner had I sworn
off marathons than the opportunity to run another arose. And not just any
marathon, mind you, but Jerusalem. The holy land. Talk about an offer you can’t
So in a few days, I am going to Israel where I will run the Jerusalem
