I’m just back from the ultimate girlfriends’ getaway. 7 friends and I spent a long weekend at a one of the lady’s vacation house near Lake Garda in Italy.

On the agenda was the sampling of wines, cheeses and balsamico from the area.  We also explored Riva del Garda, some of the other little towns in Trentino, and Verona in the neighboring Venezia region.

The party included a chef who trained and worked in France, who planned and orchestrated a series of wonderful meals, using local ingredients from the Trentino region of Italy, which we all helped prepare.
There were also a number of wine aficionados represented; 2 who have worked in the wine industry, and my friend Ginny who came to Barcelona with me, who owns La Buena Vida, an international culinary shop and espresso bar that also sells wine. Armed with an intermediate WSET certification, I am more of a wannabe aficionado, but after 4 days of wine tasting, I might be a bit closer.
The trip can only be described as awesome! But what was even more awesome then the food, the wine and the location, was spending quality time with my girlfriends.
Have you been on a girlfriends getaway or planning one in the future? Do tell!
